I grew up in Hawaii after migrating from the Philippines at a very young age with my family. After finishing high school in Honolulu, I attended Seattle University in Washington state, where I finished with a B.A. in Political Science and was chosen as the commencement speaker. I was also a parliamentary debater finalist throughout college and finally one as the impromptu speaking champion in my final international event in Vancouver, Canada. After college, I moved to Las Vegas, NV where I worked as branch manager, staffing manager, and sales director.
The training had been fun and intense because I, as an accountant, only speak in front of an audience to teach or lecture but not to engage them. Public speaking has become fun for me because I learned how I can engage my students to participate. The training was also intense because we were really inspired to overcome our weaknesses every session. Chris’s training also included a refresher on some English topics which we learned in high school but had come to forget; this time, however, Chris made it much clearer than before. The training is definitely an added value to my professional development.
My experience at the American Institute for English Proficiency was wonderful. I’ve met different people from different walks of life and made new friends. The specialists were great. One of my mentors, Chris, was instrumental in helping me achieve my goals in life. He is a great mentor. Everything he taught me during my AIEP days helped me a lot to succeed in life. I aced my interviews and got promoted several times because of him. Chris is also one of the reasons why I became more confident in public speaking. In fact, because of his Five Elements training, class discussion and presentation at graduate school became easy for me. It is also one of the reasons why I was able to successfully defend my master’s thesis and graduate with flying colors. I am really proud and grateful that Chis became my mentor. He is one of the great people behind my success. With his passion and dedication, I know he can help many people achieve their dreams and goals in life. More power, Chris!
